Breaking Down the Walls

by Mark Mangum
I have released myself from a prison
Which I built to protect myself and those around me.
I am breaking down the walls of the cage
That I have held myself captive within for ages.
The doors have been torn from their hinges
At the release of my being.
And I was set free into the world
Where everyone's emotions fly around rampant
As these words flow across this page.
These emotions seep through my skin,
Penetrating and filling my core,
And play them out within me,
Leaving me once confused,
But now empowered with knowledge.
Life is becoming easier the more the walls crumble,
The more I embrace who I really am,
And the happier I become with each passing day.
