White Noise

by Mark Mangum
I begin to lose my individuality in your wake
I listen to the white noise
The static you speak
And it replaces in me
All the things of me
The things that have made me who I am
As you desperately pick me apart
To place the remaining pieces on your shelves
With all those labels
That you have impressed on all the others before me
And so I drown completely
Dying away
And become nothing more than a shell of the person I was
And the person I could have been
Has been lost forever within your white noise
And I am like snow on the television screen
Screaming wordlessly
Converting more people over to you
To their label
To the white noise
And the snow of the television screen
