My Memory

by Mark Mangum
A memory of my childhood came back to me,
Not to haunt,
But to delight me.

Such a wondrous thing this little memory.

I had thought them lost to time and eternity,
But for once I am surprised to find one lingering in my head,
Swirling somewhere in the back of my mind.

So in this memory, I will bask for a moment,
And take in all of its brilliance.

And now I know that what I had come to believe is not true,
That there was happiness instead of gloom.
