The Morning After

by Mark Mangum
Sitting, staring out the passenger side
With memories playing within me like a movie slide

My moral code has been bent to breaking
While my still beating heart lays shattered
It is all there for the taking

Cigarette burns in all my dreams
Nothing anymore is what it seems

You told me once that you would heal my heart
And maybe you did
But you have just torn it all apart

Your lies and mistrust have pushed me down
I feel like running away
But maybe I will stay
And in your sick love drown
