Grieving Souls

by Mark Mangum
The time when we lived
Then the time that they died
The times we have laughed
And the times that we’ve cried
Then when you hurt,
And you think it’s all over,
The grieving souls begin to smile
But you pull yourself away
And live on for a while
You think about the love we once had
And you look back in pain
You remember those times that were bad
And you begin to cry once again
Just when you find your place in this world
And you feel that your time is near
You lay your head down
And shed one last tear
Now that you hurt no longer
And you know it’s all over
The grieving souls begin to smile
And you’ll go willingly for you’ve lived a long while
